Front-End Lead Engineer – OTT Delivery

Overview

In this role you will lead the front-end engineering efforts for Deltatre’s OTT delivery projects, maintaining hands-on code while guiding architecture and standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing UI solutions for live and on-demand sport experiences. You will mentor engineers, communicate technical trade-offs to stakeholders, and drive automation and modern front-end practices. This is a hands-on leadership position with a focus on delivering reliable, quality front-end systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Oversee front-end engineering for assigned projects ensuring robust, scalable, secure, and accessible solutions
• Plan and coordinate front-end development activities, prioritise tasks and provide estimates
• Review technical approach and code quality for deliverables, enforce standards and performance benchmarks
• Identify and resolve technical blockers, escalate architectural concerns when needed
• Drive adoption of automation, tooling, and modern front-end technologies
• Establish efficient workflows and maintain architectural documentation
• Mentor and support professional growth and onboarding of engineers
• Contribute to recruitment and integration of new front-end team members
• Contribute to project planning with Technical Directors and align with goals
• Collaborate with BA/PO to define acceptance criteria and groom planned activities
• Manage technical risks and escalate as necessary
• Act as main technical contact for customers and stakeholders, translating requirements
• Present technical solutions to technical and non-technical audiences
• Provide on-call support when required

Key requirements

• Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
• Thorough understanding of React.js and core principles
• Experience with Node.js, Next.js, SSR/CSR concepts
• Strong knowledge of Tailwind CSS for responsive UI
• Expertise in front-end testing with Jest
• Experience designing scalable front-end architecture for complex apps
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, security, and accessibility
• High proficiency with Git
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving their growth
• Track record of owning architectural decisions and communicating trade-offs
