The successful candidate will play an important role within the practice, taking ownership of a portfolio of clients while leading and developing a team.
The Role
As Audit & Accounts Manager, you will have responsibility for managing a varied portfolio of clients, overseeing audit and accounts assignments from planning through to completion and acting as a key point of contact for clients. This is a hands-on management role, ideally suited to an experienced practice professional who enjoys client interaction, leading people and getting involved in the detail of the work. You will have regular opportunities to attend client sites, build strong relationships with business owners and senior stakeholders, and provide commercially focused advice alongside the core audit and accounts work.
What You Will Do
- Manage a portfolio of audit and accounts clients across a range of sectors and business sizes.
- Plan, manage and complete audit assignments from initial planning through to completion.
- Review statutory accounts and financial statements, ensuring a high standard of technical accuracy.
- Prepare and review accounts and corporation tax computations where required.
- Attend client sites and develop strong, long-term relationships with clients.
- Act as a trusted point of contact, understanding clients’ businesses and identifying opportunities to add value.
- Manage workflow and deadlines across multiple assignments.
- Supervise, review and support the work of junior and trainee members of the team.
- Delegate effectively and provide coaching and feedback to support the development of team members.
- Work closely with the senior team on more complex client matters and advisory requirements.
- Contribute to the continued development and growth of the practice and its client base.

Requirements
- Qualified accountant, ideally ACA or ACCA.
- Strong practice experience across audit and accounts.
- Proven experience managing audit assignments from planning through to completion.
- Confident reviewing accounts and working with a varied client portfolio.
- Previous experience supervising or managing junior team members.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- Comfortable attending client sites and dealing directly with business owners and senior management.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- A proactive and commercially minded approach to client service.
