Software Engineer II – Cloud Platform Engineering – Chase UK

Overview

As a Software Engineer in the International Consumer Bank, you will help deliver a seamless digital banking experience. You collaborate with a distributed, diverse team to improve reliability, observability, and operability of customer-facing services. You’ll build secure, high-quality full-stack code and support products through their lifecycle, contributing to the bank’s digital transformation. This role offers hands-on impact in shaping scalable banking solutions and enhancing the developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development teams to improve the developer experience with tools and infrastructure supporting agile, CI/CD
• Identify problems, propose solutions, and execute software design, development, operations, and troubleshooting
• Develop secure, high-quality full-stack production code and review/debug code
• Support products through full lifecycle including production support and incident management
• Understand functional requirements of existing complex business applications
• Apply SDLC tools, AI coding assist tools, peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events exploring new technologies
• Promote a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

Key requirements

• Knowledge of full software development lifecycle (design, development, testing, operations)
• Ability to develop, debug, and maintain code with modern programming languages and databases
• Strong Java 17+ fundamentals, concurrency, memory management, OOP with Spring/Spring Boot and API design
• DevOps practices and framework
• REST API integration technologies
• Production experience with Public Cloud services (AWS)
• Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform or similar)
• Experience with CICD migrations and cloud-native architectures (AWS)
• Frontend familiarity with TypeScript/React preferred
• Agile practices, application resiliency, and security awareness
• Secure handling of inputs/outputs and data sensitivity considerations
