Recruitment Consultant – Transport for London (Stratford)
Company: Transport for London (TfL) – a public sector transportation agency serving Greater London.
Location: Endeavour Square, Stratford, London – hybrid working (50% office, 50% home).
Contract: 10‑month fixed‑term contract (FTC). Salary: circa £40,000, depends on skills, knowledge and experience.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for applying expertise to the full recruitment lifecycle from consulting, sourcing, attracting, selecting, and offering the right candidates at the right time across multiple professions and disciplines. It aims to deliver an exceptional level of customer service to all stakeholders, act as an ambassador for TfL with third‑party suppliers, and promote compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Accountabilities
- Deliver a cost‑effective, customer‑focused, advisory recruitment service and act as subject‑matter expert on sourcing strategies and processes.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (senior leaders, Skills and Employment, Diversity and Inclusion, HR, ODD, Leadership, Business Resources) to ensure recruitment alignment.
- Build collaborative relationships with industry contacts, third‑party suppliers, educational bodies and communities to source diverse talent.
- Manage multiple campaigns, prioritise workload, and mitigate risk.
- Ensure delivery meets TfL HR policies, strategy, KPIs and industry standards.
- Advisory on assessment tools and campaign selection to meet business needs.
- Design, create, and deliver multi‑channel attraction methodologies, including internal/external events.
- Use specialist knowledge to build pipelines for hard‑to‑fill and scarce roles, incorporating diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Ensure interviewers and assessors are competent, trained, and aware of TfL diversity and equality practices.
- Support and help deliver improvement activities to operationalise recruitment strategy.
- Manage third‑party suppliers to ensure service quality meets contractual obligations.
- Engage in talent and succession planning for critical roles.
- Uphold cultural attributes such as compliance, audit, service delivery, customer service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge & Experience
- Good knowledge of the recruitment process, lifecycle, and employment legislation.
- Understanding of third‑party recruitment provider operations.
- Knowledge of managing and planning recruitment campaigns, working regulations, and timelines.
- Insight into internal TfL relationships and interfaces necessary for recruitment.
- Experience with managing recruitment tools, 3rd‑party suppliers, and contract management.
- Professional qualification such as CIPD (desirable but not essential).
- Experience designing and deploying targeted multi‑channel attraction strategies.
- Experience designing diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Experience in a unionised environment, shared‑services setting, and agile demand fulfilment.
