Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead mechanical infrastructure across the Trust’s estate, ensuring safety, resilience and compliance. You will shape standards, risk management and asset performance in a large, clinically critical environment. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to safeguard patients and staff while driving value through efficient, reliable systems. This is an opportunity to influence estate assurance and major infrastructure investments within a leading NHS delivery group.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership and technical authority for mechanical infrastructure across the estate
• Oversee technical standards, statutory compliance, risk management and resilience of mechanical assets and systems
• Manage heating, ventilation and air conditioning, medical gas pipelines, steam/pressure systems, and water systems
• Lead estate assurance and compliance activities
• Support asset lifecycle planning and infrastructure investment
• Drive continuous improvement in safety, resilience, performance and value for money

Key requirements

• Professional qualifications in mechanical engineering; ideally a mechanical engineering degree and membership of IMechE or CIBSE, or Chartered Engineer status
• Authorised Person duties and safe systems of work experience
• Experience with medical gas pipeline systems, critical ventilation and pressure systems
• Strong knowledge of healthcare engineering standards, including Health Technical Memoranda
