Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer at Ultra PCS drives design and development of high-integrity mechanical solutions for safety- and mission-critical systems. You will work across design, operations, and supply chain to ensure robust, manufacturable assemblies and compliant documentation. The role involves leading small work packages, presenting at reviews, and guiding cross-functional teams to meet schedule and budget. Responsibilities

• Prepare technical documents and develop product data to functional level with minimal supervision
• Support design intent and deliver design solutions within project schedules and budgets
• Interfacing with operations and supply chain to ensure design intent and DFM/DFT practices
• Assist in preparing and reviewing engineering estimates and bids, identify risks
• Present ideas at internal design reviews and to external stakeholders with support
• Liaise with Commercial, Finance, and Supply Chain functions
• Awareness of PLM tools and change/configuration management
• Author complex assemblies and drawings using CAD tools and interpret layout drawings with tolerances to standards
• Design electrical wiring assemblies and contribute to electronics design and PCB layout, software and systems activities
• Perform FEA analysis and reporting; design for manufacture and production processes
• Understand project lifecycles and manage technical risk; communicate issues clearly to customers and teams
• Proactively manage own work with initiative and informed decision-making
• Utilize Microsoft tools and role-relevant software

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with substantial post-qualification experience
• Chartered engineer or equivalent preferred
• Experience with mechanical aspects of PCB and enclosure design, EMI/EMC focus
• Familiarity with aerospace materials and manufacturing methods
• Understanding of airworthiness and safety for certification; DO-160 and environmental considerations
• Ability to work in the UK without restriction and meet National Security Vetting requirements
