Senior Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will take ownership of mechanical building-services designs from concept to completion within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with clients, architects and contractors to deliver practical, sustainable HVAC and related systems. You’ll lead design packages, coordinate with other disciplines and mentor junior engineers, shaping projects through multiple stages. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design packages across diverse projects
• Develop HVAC, heating, ventilation and related systems
• Produce calculations, specifications, drawings and technical reports
• Coordinate designs with electrical, public health and other disciplines
• Engage with architects, contractors, clients and project teams
• Attend design, client meetings and site visits
• Review work and mentor junior engineers
• Manage technical deliverables and contribute to project programmes
• Support fee proposals, tenders and business-development opportunities
• Ensure designs meet UK standards, regulations and best practice
• Deliver efficient, sustainable and commercially viable engineering solutions

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Proven experience designing mechanical systems for buildings
• Good knowledge of UK regulations, standards and industry guidance
• Experience delivering projects through multiple design stages
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to manage workload and take responsibility for project delivery
• Proactive and commercially aware approach
• Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers
