Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, and design documents
• Develop mechanical components and assemblies for aerospace applications
• Support design reviews, prototyping, testing and verification activities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical solutions
• Assess designs against technical, safety, quality and regulatory requirements
• Investigate design issues and drive improvements across the lifecycle
• Coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain to support efficient production

Key requirements

• Experience in mechanical design within aerospace/defence/advanced engineering
• Strong CAD skills for 3D models and technical drawings
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes
• Ability to interpret specifications and translate into designs
• Strong attention to detail and methodical problem-solving
• Understanding of design configuration, documentation and change control processes
• Effective communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Relevant mechanical engineering degree, apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification
