Associate Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you will contribute to a UK/Europe-based civil engineering consultancy specializing in highways and drainage. You will manage projects from planning to completion, lead a team of civil engineers, and ensure compliance with regulations and quality for client submissions. You will prepare fee proposals, support business development, and represent the firm in client meetings and site visits. You will work remotely with cross-functional teams across the development lifecycle, shaping drainage and highway design packages. This role offers impact through guiding projects from concept to detailed design and cultivating long-term client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of fee proposals/tenders
• Project management from start to completion
• Efficient design work using FLOW, AUTOCAD, SITE 3D
• Oversee and check team outputs for regulatory compliance and quality submissions
• Attend site and design team meetings
• Undertake business development to secure new work

Key requirements

• Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng or IEng) or close to it, with 7+ years in UK drainage and highway design consultancy
• Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc) or higher
• Proven ability to prepare fee proposals and liaise with clients to win work
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and client relationship development
• Strong project management skills delivering multiple projects on time and within budget
• Strong technical skills in highway and drainage design
