Senior Mechanical Engineer – Water Sector

Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Stantec’s Water team, you will deliver mechanical solutions for water and wastewater facilities and pumping stations, guiding design packages from concept to construction. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to achieve sustainable, resilient infrastructure. You’ll lead design reviews, mentoring of junior engineers, and identify opportunities to improve engineering solutions. This role combines technical leadership with the chance to work on nationally significant projects within a leading UK consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Produce mechanical designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations and associated infrastructure
• Prepare and review technical calculations, equipment specifications and engineering documentation
• Collaborate with Project Managers, multidisciplinary teams and clients throughout project delivery
• Support technical reviews and identify opportunities to improve engineering solutions
• Provide guidance and mentoring to early career engineers and graduates
• Contribute to successful project delivery through effective communication with clients, contractors and stakeholders

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering design within the UK water sector
• Good understanding of mechanical systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities
• Experience coordinating engineering activities as part of multidisciplinary project teams
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience supporting and mentoring junior engineers
