Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

Overview

In this role you lead mechanical design delivery within a multidisciplinary building services team. You will shape solutions across healthcare, education, residential, and other sectors, driving high-quality engineering outputs and client relationships. You mentor junior engineers and help define technical standards, promoting innovative and low-carbon approaches. Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design delivery on selected projects
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams
• Manage design elements from concept to completion
• Produce drawings, specifications and design documentation
• Perform engineering calculations and support reviews
• Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers
• Maintain and improve technical standards
• Contribute to innovative, sustainable and low-carbon solutions

Key requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
• 3–4 years’ post-qualification experience in building services design
• Strong consultancy experience delivering mechanical design solutions
• Knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry guidance
• Experience using design software: Revit, Relux/Dialux, Amtech or equivalent
• Understanding of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies
• Experience with BREEAM is advantageous
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building services design
