Software Engineer

Software Engineer (Full Stack, Java Focus) – Leeds (Hybrid) – £600 Inside IR35

Please note: Candidates will be required to be able to commute to Leeds at least 2/3 days per week.

La Fosse are recruiting for a Software Engineer to help design, build and deliver scalable software products. You’ll work across the full stack with a strong focus on backend development, contributing to technical decisions and driving engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs and full-stack applications.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering practices.
• Champion code quality through testing, code reviews and best practices.
• Collaborate with Product, Design and QA teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
• Support and mentor engineers through knowledge sharing and technical guidance.
• Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and tooling.
• Strong backend development experience, ideally with Java.
• Full-stack development experience and understanding of end-to-end systems.
• Proven ability to influence technical decisions and engineering standards.
• Experience with automated testing and delivering maintainable software.
• Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
