Overview

In this role you will contribute to Turbine Island design development within the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate the Turbine Island into broader plant infrastructure. You will ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements, support option studies, and uphold safety and quality standards. The position offers hands-on design work, stakeholder engagement, and opportunity to influence nuclear and fusion projects. Responsibilities

• Ensure supplier deliverables meet requirements
• Develop and check design documents with Senior Engineers
• Assist in design development activities and optioneering studies
• Apply Systems Engineering principles
• Integrate Turbine Island design into wider power plant infrastructure
• Engage with stakeholders and attend design reviews
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality management

Key requirements

• Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Relevant senior engineering experience in offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries
• Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering
• Proficient with CAD software: Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia
• Strong mathematical skills: MathCAD
• Experienced with producing technical reports (design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (welding, machining)
• Experience with engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture
• Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Eurocode 3 and DNV
• Master’s degree is a plus
• Finite Element Analysis skills: ANSYS Workbench desirable
• Experience with non-linear and fatigue FEA: DNV and Eurocodes familiarity
