Staff Software Performance Engineer – Team Lead

Overview

In this role you will enhance software performance on Arm systems and partner with cross-functional teams to diagnose and fix bottlenecks. You will work on large, complex codebases and interact with tooling, hardware, and open-source communities to drive performance improvements. You’ll produce analyses and write-ups that help both engineers and partner companies understand root causes. The role offers opportunities to influence future hardware designs and collaborate across Arm’s ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Collecting workload data and analyzing bottlenecks to inform next steps
• Analyzing and optimizing large codebases for performance
• Working with various platforms including latest hardware, FPGAs, and software models
• Documenting analyses and sharing knowledge within the team
• Creating write-ups and presentations to help other developers
• Contributing improvements to open-source projects or partner collaborations

Key requirements

• Excellent C/C++ skills
• Experience profiling and tracing large applications to locate bottlenecks
• Strong understanding of system architecture (pipelines, caches, MMUs, interconnect, timers, multithreading)
• Proficient problem solving and debugging abilities

• Excellent written and spoken English
• strong interpersonal and mentoring ability
• professional, hardworking and flexible mindset
• Runtime understanding of OS concepts (processes, threads, locks, virtual memory)
• Experience with performance analysis of large software stacks
• Familiarity with Arm architecture and tools
