Associate Structural Engineer – Nuclear

Overview

In this role you will lead and grow a structural engineering capability within the Nuclear Power & Decommissioning Team. You’ll balance technical design work with business development, acting as the main client contact and fostering team leadership. Expect to drive process improvements, deliver technical presentations, and perform peer reviews to ensure high quality. Travel to project sites will be part of the role as you shape nuclear projects from concept to completion. You’ll join a collaborative, inclusive environment that values innovation and impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and mentorship of the structural engineering team
• Serve as primary point of contact with clients, partners and contractors
• Develop and implement new processes to improve operations
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations showcasing expertise
• Perform peer reviews of internal and external submissions
• Oversee design activities and project delivery for nuclear sector projects
• Provide strategic direction and guidance across projects and programmes
• Support business development in engineering functions and resource management
• Travel to various sites for project oversight

Key requirements

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with MIStructE or equivalent
• Demonstrable leadership experience and ability to develop team members
• Track record of applying structural engineering knowledge in nuclear sector or a similar regulated industry
• Proven delivery record and ability to guide other engineers in defining and delivering work packages
• Ability to provide strategic guidance across a portfolio of projects
• Leadership and business development capability within engineering function
• Autonomous, self-motivated, and able to work in a dynamic deadline-driven environment
• Willingness to obtain UK security clearance
