Associate Structural Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help lead the delivery of building structures projects from concept to construction, shaping technical quality and client outcomes. You will mentor teams and contribute to resource planning, project management, and development of engineers. A strong client-facing element drives business development and stakeholder engagement. You will influence regional delivery and support the Cardiff team’s growth within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of structural projects from concept through construction with QA, schedule, and commercial oversight
• Guide and support project teams, ensuring coordinated designs and alignment with standards
• Contribute to resource planning, project management, and engineers/technicians development
• Build and maintain client, architect, contractor, and stakeholder relationships for project outcomes
• Support business development activities including fee proposals, bids, and networking
• Participate in wider team initiatives to drive innovation and continuous improvement across the Civil & Structural business
• Shape regional project delivery, focus on resilient, sustainable buildings that meet client needs
• Mentor and develop technical capability within the Cardiff team

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng or equivalent)
• Chartered Engineer with IStructE or ICE
• Strong experience delivering building structures projects across multiple sectors
• Experience leading project teams and managing technical delivery
• Strong understanding of structural design, coordination, and project management
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting project financial performance
• Confident communicator with experience managing client and stakeholder relationships
• Experience mentoring engineers and technicians
