Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Life Sciences)

Overview

As Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will drive the mechanical building services design for life sciences and industrial projects, guiding delivery from concept through RIBA Stages. You will work with a senior team to win bids, manage client accounts, and shape landmark facilities. The role combines technical leadership with client liaison to ensure high-performance, compliant designs. This is a stepping-stone in a growing mechanical services team at a renowned consultancy, offering rapid progression for top performers.

Responsibilities

• lead design, planning and coordination of life sciences and industrial projects through all RIBA Stages
• attend client and design team meetings
• manage key client accounts
• produce high-performance mechanical building services designs for landmark projects
• assist the Director with bids, contracts, resource and fee forecasting

Key requirements

• at least 7 years of Mechanical Design Engineering experience
• experience on laboratories, clean rooms or healthcare projects
• client-facing experience
• strong commercial awareness
• passion for the industry and career progression
