Senior Civil Engineer – Water

Overview

In this role you will lead civil engineering work on water and wastewater schemes in Bristol, ensuring designs meet standards and integrate with other disciplines. You will mentor the civil team, engage clients, and drive safe, efficient delivery. The position offers hands-on design guidance and the chance to shape treatment system improvements. You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality projects that support the company’s water objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide design support and guidance ensuring compliance with legislation and standards
• Collaborate with commercial, operational, and construction teams to develop safe, efficient solutions
• Engage with clients to manage relationships and help achieve their goals
• Integrate civil design with other disciplines and documentation
• Act as a technical checker and perform technical reviews
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery with standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools
• Conduct site reviews to verify buildability within existing systems
• Support civil engineering team development, including mentoring and resource allocation

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Chartership (CEng) with a relevant engineering institution is highly desirable
• Proven delivery of high-quality outputs meeting design, quality, and safety standards
• Effective communication with team members and stakeholders
• Methodical problem-solving approach
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the operational region
• Experience in water/wastewater is essential
