Section Engineer

Overview

As Section Engineer on the Old Oak Common HS2 Station project, you will own designated work packages and ensure safe, efficient delivery on a landmark rail civils scheme. You will work with the project team to coordinate engineering activities, subcontractors and site teams, while upholding QA and safety standards. The role focuses on delivering against programme targets and resolving design and technical queries, shaping high-quality rail infrastructure. This is a long-term opportunity to contribute to a flagship project and develop with a leading rail contractor.

Responsibilities

• Manage sections of work from planning through to completion
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and site teams
• Review and implement RAMS, ITPs and quality documentation
• Monitor programme progress and ensure works are delivered to schedule
• Manage technical queries, design coordination and site engineering activities
• Carry out quality inspections and ensure compliance with project specifications
• Support commercial and planning functions where required
• Promote and maintain high Health & Safety standards

Key requirements

• Experience as a Site Engineer or Section Engineer within rail, civils or major infrastructure projects
• Previous experience on rail, bridges, structures, drainage, highways or heavy civils schemes
• Strong understanding of QA processes, site documentation and engineering controls
• Experience managing subcontractors and direct labour
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
• Valid CSCS Card
