Mechanical Shift Engineer

Overview

In this role you ensure critical building systems and environmental conditions are kept to high standards on a prestigious contract. You will perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical plant and work closely with the site team, subcontractors, and client representatives. You’ll troubleshoot faults using alarms and system data, while upholding safety, quality, and professional image. This is a hands-on opportunity to support data centre facilities and drive reliable performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine PPM on mechanical plant per site schedules and asset lists
• Handle reactive tasks and identify improvement opportunities across the building
• Diagnose plant faults to keep systems in service
• Maintain spare parts inventory and provide remediary timelines
• Prepare and submit Method Statements and Risk Assessments
• Update Maximo with accurate PPM and reactive ticket data
• Supervise subcontractors and oversee on-site works
• Ensure safe working practices and PPE compliance
• Maintain clean, secure plant rooms and manage access
• Align tasks with H&S and contractual KPIs/SLAs
• Communicate effectively with Contract Administrator and client representatives

Key requirements

• HVAC, hot and cold-water systems, and generators knowledge
• Ability to fault-find using alarms, graphical information, and data
• Basic electrical knowledge (desirable)
• Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo) and safety procedures
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
