PRINCIPAL / ASSOCIATE CIVIL ENGINEER

Overview

As a Principal/Associate Civil Engineer you will lead a diverse civil engineering portfolio, guiding designs and technical decisions across highways, drainage, and infrastructure projects. You will mentor junior engineers, interact with clients and stakeholders, and represent the firm in meetings, driving project success and client satisfaction. The role blends technical leadership with business development and people development within a growing, respected consultancy. You will work on heritage and marine projects alongside traditional schemes, contributing to the practice’s growth and capability.

Responsibilities

• Take a leading role across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects (highways, junction design, drainage, hydraulic modelling, cut & fill analysis)
• Coordinate infrastructure design and deliverables
• Engage with clients and stakeholders; represent the business at meetings
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
• Support overall growth and development of the practice
• Ensure adherence to design standards and best practice
• Manage project coordination with multidisciplinary teams

Key requirements

• Chartered status or approaching Chartered status
• substantial UK consultancy experience
• strong understanding of relevant design standards and best practice
• experience with Section 278, 38, 104 and 185 agreements
