Solicitor – Family – Somerset – Hybrid

Overview

In this role you will handle public law children matters within a collaborative family team, delivering compassionate, client-focused advice in sensitive cases. You’ll manage care proceedings and related issues while developing advocacy skills in a supportive, growth-oriented environment. The position offers high-quality, meaningful work in a purpose-driven setting and opportunities to work with senior colleagues and Counsel. You will contribute to positive outcomes for vulnerable families and client welfare.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of public law children matters, including care proceedings, emergency orders, and adoption cases
• Provide clear, empathetic advice to clients while maintaining high standards of client care
• Represent clients in Family Court proceedings, conduct advocacy where appropriate, and liaise with Counsel
• Prepare legal documents and ensure compliance with Legal Aid requirements, statutory obligations, and case management best practices

Key requirements

• 2+ PQE in Family Law
• passion for child law and genuine desire to help vulnerable families
• experience with public law children matters is preferred
• ability to liaise with Counsel and undertake advocacy when required
