Job Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles and council fleet vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Complete routine inspections, MOT preparation and preventative maintenance.
• Repair and replace vehicle components, including brakes, suspension, steering and engine systems.
• Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, safety standards and legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate service, repair and inspection records.
• Carry out vehicle checks and report defects or safety concerns.
• Respond efficiently to breakdowns and repair requirements where required.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
• Work effectively with colleagues and operational teams to minimise vehicle downtime.

Person Specification

• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent.
• Proven experience working as a commercial vehicle technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of commercial vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience using vehicle diagnostic equipment.
• Good understanding of health and safety and relevant vehicle legislation.
• Able to diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently.
• Good practical, problem-solving and mechanical skills.
• Reliable, organised and able to work to deadlines.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence, with relevant commercial vehicle categories desirable.
