Associate Director Structural Engineer

Overview

You will help establish and lead the London structural team within an international design consultancy. In this role you’ll work closely with senior Directors to deliver buildings projects, win new work, and scale the London operation from the ground up. You’ll manage multi-disciplinary delivery, oversee client relationships, and contribute to business development for a growing office. This is a chance to shape a new division and engage with international projects from London. The role blends technical leadership with strategic growth and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver structural design for buildings across projects in London
• Develop and secure new business opportunities with clients
• Coordinate with directors and cross-functional teams to ensure project success
• Oversee client relationships and project governance
• Mentor and build a growing structural team as the London office scales
• Support recruitment and onboarding to reach target staffing levels
• Contribute to bid/tender preparation and project proposals
• Ensure technical excellence and compliance in design outputs

Key requirements

• Buildings structural design experience
• Strong project running and delivery capability
• Business development and client engagement experience
• MICE or MIStructE qualified preferred (not mandatory)
• Eligibility to live and work in the UK
