Senior Security Engineer, AWS Security

Overview

As a Senior Security Engineer, you will design and operate services that detect and mitigate cybersecurity threats across AWS infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with data scientists, software engineers, and security peers to create proactive protections for AWS customers, internally and externally. The role blends security technology, tool development, and secure distributed systems, with mentorship and leadership across teams. You will interact with CISOs, CTOs, and AWS leadership, helping to strengthen security programs and trust at the highest levels.

Responsibilities

• build and manage threat detection and mitigation services across AWS infrastructure
• collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative security solutions
• protect AWS customers and preserve customer trust by proactive security measures
• mentor junior engineers and lead by example in code reviews and knowledge sharing
• engage with senior stakeholders (CISOs, CTOs, AWS leadership) to shape security programs
• operate and continuously improve industry-leading security programs and processes

Key requirements

• experience with AWS services or other cloud offerings
• experience identifying security issues and developing mitigation plans
• experience in security vulnerabilities identification, attack patterns, and remediation (non-internship)
• scripting, programming, and security code review in a common language
• troubleshooting systems, analyzing logs, or automating tasks using command-line tools
• experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• UK national status and ability to obtain/maintain UK Government Security Clearance
