Principal Security Engineer

Overview

In this role you will strengthen security engineering within a high-growth CIO function, shaping secure cloud modernisation and streamlined delivery. You will coach teams, promote re-use and efficient workflows, and drive fail-fast, loop-driven improvements. You will define controls and best practices to detect issues early while enabling faster, more reliable delivery. You will work with cross-functional Scrum teams to raise security standards and collaboration across the CIO community.

Responsibilities

• Promote re-use to optimise workflows and reduce duplication
• Guide and coach teams on security engineering practices and process improvements
• Support delivery efficiency by reducing manual execution
• Ensure fast feedback loops for fail-fast delivery and continuous improvement
• Define and implement security best practices and controls and enable early issue detection
• Drive engagement and collaboration across Scrum Teams and the CIO community to adopt best practices for secure, reliable delivery

Key requirements

• Extensive IT security experience in an agile environment
• Transformational leadership with ability to influence decisions and implement new processes
• Excellent mentoring skills for staff development
• Proven design, implementation and security of cloud environments with emphasis on Microsoft Azure
• In-depth knowledge of cloud security, network security, IAM, encryption, and secure coding
• Strong problem-solving to analyze complex security issues and craft effective solutions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work
• Track record of building scalable, secure, highly available Azure-based security infrastructures
• Proficiency in leveraging data and analytics to enhance security solutions
