Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Overview

As a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter, you will provide engineering support across the Burton site, delivering planned maintenance and rapid breakdown responses to production equipment. You will work within a manufacturing environment focused on reliability, safety, and efficiency. You’ll contribute to continuous improvement and support Marshalls’ mission of quality and sustainable building solutions. This role offers exposure to maintenance planning, cross-functional collaboration, and a shift pattern that includes nights and Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance on process equipment in production and support areas
• Respond to breakdowns and carry out repairs efficiently and safely
• Diagnose issues and provide accurate plant condition information and recommendations
• Maintain equipment and support continuous improvement initiatives with CI teams
• Utilize CMMS systems (SAP – PM module) for maintenance planning and record-keeping
• Manage contractor engagement/control systems as needed

Key requirements

• Maintenance fitter experience in a manufacturing environment
• Apprentice trained and time served or equivalent mechanical craftsperson
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and regulatory requirements
• Hands-on mechanical skills including fitting, hydraulics, and pneumatics
• Ability to interpret maintenance problems and provide actionable recommendations
• CMMS experience, ideally SAP – PM module
• Experience of contractor control systems
• Collaborate with CI to deliver performance improvements
