Mechanical Project Engineer

Overview

As Mechanical Project Engineer, you will own the mechanical package on a £15.5m commercial project for a Tier 1 contractor. You will drive design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning, and ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. You will coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams and report progress to stakeholders, shaping delivery for a growing regional contractor. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with planning and risk management to deliver on time and within budget. • Up to £80,000 + package

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and scopes for timely, cost-effective delivery
• Lead mechanical design and review technical drawings to ensure codes and standards compliance
• Oversee procurement of materials and equipment and manage vendor relationships
• Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning with emphasis on quality and safety
• Implement quality control and ensure systems meet regulatory standards
• Identify project risks and resolve technical challenges while maintaining safety
• Oversee testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning for proper functionality
• Serve as technical liaison to clients and stakeholders with regular progress updates
• Maintain documentation of design changes and approvals
• Lead and mentor engineering teams to foster collaboration and growth
