Senior Architect – Construction Quality Monitoring

Overview

In this role you will lead site quality monitoring across a multi-disciplinary team to ensure build quality, safety, and contract compliance in education projects. You will collaborate with the Design and Building Surveying team and coordinate with specialists to manage inspections, reporting, and mitigation of non-conformities. You’ll work across offices and with clients to uphold high standards in construction delivery. This position offers exposure to varied public and private sector projects and a focus on safety, quality, and professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Deliver site quality monitoring for education sector projects within a multi-disciplinary team
• Review on-site works for contract adherence, best practices, and manufacturers’ guidance
• Coordinate and manage specialist consultants (M&E, Fire, Facade) as needed
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including reporting via online information platforms
• Collaborate with other disciplines, site managers, and supply chain; exercise sound construction judgement
• Familiarity with JCT forms of contract; NEC knowledge advantageous
• Manage own workload and work independently on design and tender of small/medium maintenance projects
• Prepare and deliver site inspection reports; use tablet capture software
• Obtain DBS and basic security clearances as required

Key requirements

• Relevant construction degree or equivalent qualification
• Chartered Architect
• NEC Supervisor or NEC Project Manager accreditation (not essential)
• Prior experience in a similar site quality monitoring role
• Experience in the Education sector and knowledge of the DfE Output Specification and S25 Technical Manual (preferred)

• Effective verbal and written communication
• Collaborative mindset with cross-disciplinary teams
• Strong construction judgement
• Building technology knowledge including modern methods of construction (MMC)
• Site inspection and reporting
• Knowledge of JCT contracts (and NEC awareness)
