Project Director – Civil Engineering

Overview

As a Project Director for a Midlands-based main civil engineering contractor, you will drive delivery of major civil and infrastructure schemes. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage client relationships, and oversee pre-construction planning and governance. You’ll shape execution, ensure HS&E, quality and budget compliance, and continuously improve processes. This senior role offers impact across projects up to £30m and opportunities to influence project strategy and stakeholder experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage client relationships and stakeholder engagement
• Oversee pre-construction programming and planning
• Ensure HS&E, quality, and regulatory compliance across projects
• Lead project teams to achieve delivery targets and maintain morale
• Prepare comprehensive monthly progress and performance reports
• Resource, budget, and risk management for planned projects
• Coordinate subcontractors, warranties, and professional appointments
• Ensure clear understanding of design and specification requirements with Design Manager
• Utilise management systems and tools to drive project performance
• Foster close collaboration with customers, consultants and subcontractors

Key requirements

• No.1 PM experience on projects up to £30m
• Major civils/infrastructure project experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering or similar
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
