Senior Engineering Manager – AI

Overview

As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a 5–8 person AI engineering team to build and ship enterprise-grade AI capabilities. You’ll drive end-to-end delivery of conversational and agentic AI features that enable natural-language interaction with models and autonomous data analysis. You’ll own the delivery roadmap, establish best practices, and collaborate with product and platform teams to integrate AI into Anaplan’s core infrastructure. This role blends hands-on technical problem solving with strategic leadership to accelerate AI-powered planning at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of AI engineers, fostering excellence and delivery
• Drive end-to-end delivery of conversational AI features with natural language interaction
• Oversee development of agentic AI systems for autonomous data analysis and planning workflows
• Own team roadmap, prioritize features with product management, manage trade-offs
• Establish AI engineering best practices including testing, evaluation, and deployment
• Lead sprint planning, design reviews, and retrospectives to ensure velocity and quality
• Collaborate with AI Solutions Architects to translate architecture into plans
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and prompt regression testing for AI apps
• Partner with platform teams to ensure seamless integration with core infrastructure
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership and stakeholders

Key requirements

• Software engineering experience with leadership
• Hands-on experience building and deploying AI applications in production
• Deep knowledge of LLM APIs, prompt engineering, and conversational AI patterns
• Experience with agentic frameworks and autonomous agent architectures
• Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices (testing, code review, CI/CD)
• Proven track record delivering complex projects on time with high quality
• Strong project management with Agile/Scrum experience
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and build cohesive teams
