Sr Director Analyst – Procurement Strategy

Overview

As a Senior Director in Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights group, you will lead the creation of high-impact, must-have procurement research and thought leadership. You will translate insights into actionable guidance for clients, meeting with executives and stakeholders to address complex challenges. You’ll shape the research agenda, mentor junior colleagues, and collaborate across teams to accelerate client outcomes. This role blends analysis, market insight, and compelling storytelling for major conferences and client engagements. You will contribute to Gartner’s mission by driving innovative procurement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Create innovative, must-have research content that informs client decisions
• Develop new research ideas through thought leadership and actionable approaches
• Conduct in-depth analyses to identify root causes and reframe client strategy
• Establish research positions and thought leadership within the analyst team
• Provide independent, evidence-based insights to evolve the research agenda
• Analyze market trends to deliver actionable guidance to clients and vendors
• Offer client-facing advice via virtual or in-person interactions
• Produce high-value presentation materials for events, conferences, and briefings
• Support Research and Sales by providing market voice and driving client engagement
• Mentor and coach junior team members and facilitate peer reviews of research

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; 12+ years of relevant experience
• Executive presence and credibility with executives
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellence in research and writing; strong analytical and presentation abilities
• Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; defend conclusions
• Excellent communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly
• Subject matter expert with experience presenting at various scales
• Strong business and financial acumen; understanding of procurement landscape
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed, global team
• Willingness to travel up to 25%
• Experience building and evolving procurement strategy, governance, and KPI frameworks
