The Opportunity
We are looking for an enthusiastic Newly Qualified Family Solicitor (will consider higher PQE) to join a London family team, with a particular focus on legal aid family work alongside opportunities to develop your experience in family finance.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Solicitor with Legal Aid experience looking to build a strong career within a supportive and busy family department.
The Role
Your work will primarily involve legal aid family matters, including publicly funded cases involving children and other areas of family law, with additional involvement in family finance matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of family law matters under legal aid.
- Advising and representing clients throughout the conduct of their cases.
- Handling advocacy where appropriate and instructing counsel where required.
- Preparing applications, statements, instructions and other legal documentation.
- Liaising with clients, courts, counsel, experts and other professionals.
- Managing your files in accordance with legal aid requirements and firm procedures.
- Assisting with family finance matters, including financial remedy work.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the family department.
About You
NQ upwards and has completed a family law training seat or has relevant family law experience.
Ideally, you will have:
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in family law.
- Experience of legal aid family work and an understanding of legal aid requirements.
- Some exposure to family finance / financial remedy work.
- Strong drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and client-care skills.
- The ability to manage your own workload and meet deadlines.
- A practical, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach.
- Confidence dealing with clients and other professionals, together with a willingness to develop your advocacy skills.
