Senior Test Engineer

Overview

In this role you will ensure high-quality software across UI, API, and back-office processes in a fast-paced, agile environment. You will collaborate with a small delivery team to shape customer applications and drive end-to-end testing, automation, and risk reduction. You’ll mentor fellow testers, help define test strategy, and contribute to the automation-first approach that accelerates delivery. The position offers the chance to work on innovative research projects and contribute to AJ Bell’s mission of making investing simpler for everyone.

Responsibilities

• Coach and delegate work to testers, review their outputs, and set objectives
• Test across UI, API, back-office workflows, third-party integrations, and end-to-end scenarios
• Interpret business, functional, and technical requirements
• Understand AJ Bell products and financial services regulation
• Contribute to solution development to optimize customer outcomes
• Execute test scripts and document results using testing tools (JIRA/XRAY)
• Collaborate with Technical Leads to design and implement test automation
• Support User Acceptance Testing and production releases
• Apply Agile practices and adapt to project needs
• Participate in new research projects and proofs of concept

Key requirements

• Senior Tester experience with team delegation and mentoring
• Full understanding of the testing lifecycle & methodologies
• Create/design automated tests using BDD
• Maintain and enhance automation frameworks
• Exploratory testing in Agile environments
• Develop test tools and extend test environments
• Proven API testing experience with integration tools
• Knowledge of Cypress, Gherkin, Page Object Model, PactumJS, TypeScript
• Understanding of test automation concepts and application
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins, Git, AWS CodePipeline
• Automation-first approach to testing
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
• Experience collaborating with developers
