Electrical Engineer (Building Services)

Overview

In this role you will design and deliver sustainable, efficient electrical systems for diverse buildings, joining Arup’s multidisciplinary team to shape safer, energy‑efficient environments. You’ll work from feasibility through detailed design to project completion, collaborating with specialists to deliver high‑quality engineering outcomes. You will contribute to digital transformation initiatives and expand our services with an integrated, digital‑first design approach. Responsibilities

• Design and deliver electrical building services systems (HV/LV, lighting, controls)
• Prepare feasibility studies and detailed designs
• Ensure compliance with standards (BS 7671)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
• Support energy‑efficient and sustainable design solutions
• Contribute to digital transformation and automation initiatives
• Produce calculations and supporting documentation
• Adapt designs for diverse project types (healthcare, industrial, data centres, commercial)

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or equivalent
• Working towards chartership or willingness for employer support (IET / CIBSE)
• Experience in electrical building services design across HV/LV, lighting, fire alarm, security, renewables, earthing
• Proficiency in BIM environments, especially Revit
• Experience with ProDesign, Dialux, SKM, ETAP, Amtech (Trimble)
• Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and communicate with clients
