Job Purpose

To provide technical and administrative support for the Building Control service, ensuring efficient delivery of validation, financial, and IT-related functions. The role involves managing technical support tasks, maintaining compliance with building regulations, and optimising IT systems for service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate building regulations applications, notices, and fee calculations, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage financial processes, including invoicing, payment chasing, and purchase orders.
  • Optimise the use of IT systems, including document management, GIS, and web-based tools.
  • Process property enquiries for building regulation approvals and certificates.
  • Provide guidance and support to Technical Support Officers and contribute to service improvements.
  • Maintain filing systems and administrative procedures to ensure compliance with legislation and best practices.
  • Handle enquiries and correspondence (written, telephone, or face-to-face) and direct customers appropriately.
  • Assist with financial and performance data collation and verification.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Building Regulations legislation, IT systems (Microsoft Office, Google Suite), and best practice customer service.
  • Strong time management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and solve problems.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and technical documents.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Educated to A-Level or HND level with GCSE/O-Level in Maths and English, or equivalent literacy and numeric skills.
