Assessment & Recovery Officer

Location: WolverhamptonPay Rate: £24.00 per hourHours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pmContract: Temporary (3 Months)

City of Wolverhampton Council is looking for an experienced Assessment & Recovery Officer to join its Revenues & Benefits team.

Essential Experience

• Council Tax
• Business Rates
• Housing Benefit / Council Tax Support
• Revenues & Benefits Administration
• Debt Recovery / Collections
• Financial Assessment and Decision Making

Main Duties

• Assess Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support claims
• Administer Council Tax and Business Rates accounts
• Recover outstanding debts
• Negotiate repayment arrangements
• Handle customer enquiries by phone, email and face-to-face
• Determine appropriate recovery action
• Attend court where required
• Process work accurately and efficiently

Requirements

• Strong communication and negotiation skills
• Good IT and administration skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to manage a high-volume workload
• Professional and customer-focused approach
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable

• Northgate Revenues & Benefits experience
• Agresso experience
• Local Authority background
