What you’ll be doing


You’ll lead the service department with ownership, clarity, and confidence, including:



  • Running the service department – overseeing day‑to‑day operations and ensuring everything runs smoothly

  • Managing equipment checks – including Red Pen Checks and compliance inspections

  • Championing workshop safety – embedding safe working practices and high standards

  • Overseeing repairs – ensuring maximum equipment availability

  • Leading and developing the team – coaching, supporting, and driving performance

  • Maintaining statutory training – ensuring all qualifications remain up to date

  • Ensuring compliance across the workshop and yard

  • Processing timesheets accurately and on time

  • Delivering toolbox talks and regular team briefings

  • Monitoring spend – analysing PO reports to identify savings and highlight overspend

  • Supporting recruitment of workshop fitters when required

  • Driving engagement and productivity across the department


What we’re looking for



  • Proven management or supervisory experience

  • Confident leadership skills with the ability to motivate and influence

  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment

  • Strong communication skills and a people‑first approach

  • Health & Safety awareness

  • Good Excel skills

  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent

  • Plant hire, workshop, or construction equipment experience
