Hays Accountancy & Finance are recruiting on behalf of a large and well-established public sector organisation for two qualified Accountant opportunities. These positions offer the chance to join a busy finance team supporting a diverse range of financial activities, projects and stakeholders across a complex are excellent opportunities for qualified accountants seeking valuable public sector experience within a collaborative and professional finance environment.
Your new role
- Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Budget monitoring, forecasting and variance analysis.
- Supporting financial planning and performance management processes.
- Capital accounting and fixed asset management activities.
- Treasury and cashflow management responsibilities.
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and financial compliance.
- Supporting internal and external audit processes.
- Maintaining strong financial controls and governance procedures.
- Providing financial advice and business partnering support to operational managers.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
- Supervising and supporting junior finance team members where required.
- Working with financial systems and ERP platforms to ensure accurate financial reporting.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or equivalent recognised qualification)
- At least 2 years’ experience within financial management, accounting or audit functions
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Financial accounting
- Management accounting
- Capital accounting
- Treasury management
- Strong understanding of accounting standards, financial regulations and best practice
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience working with financial management and ERP systems
