Purpose: Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to plan and deliver bids, projects, and product developments for TKMS Atlas UK. This is a technical leadership role, not a line management position. The focus is on project delivery, technical oversight, and coordinating engineering teams (internal and subcontractors) to ensure products are designed, developed, and delivered successfully. What TKMS Atlas UK Are Looking For The ideal candidate is a technically strong engineer (Mechanical/Electrical/Systems/Software/Electronics) who has experience leading engineering work packages, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and supporting projects across the full engineering lifecycle. They should bring good technical communication, project delivery focus, and problem-solving leadership – even if they haven’t had formal line management responsibility.
Role Responsibilities (Day-to-Day Activities)
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver work packages.
- Develop engineering solutions – including costs, risks, and schedules.
- Manage delivery in line with cost, time, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate meetings, reporting, resources, and issue management.
- Act as the technical focal point between stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams.Excellent written communication – able to write bids, reports, and technical documentation.
- Strong presentation and verbal communication – presenting to stakeholders and project teams.
- Highly motivated, big-picture thinker, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Experience (Ideally, but can be developed in the role)
Engineering Leadership
- Leading/overseeing engineering teams and subcontractors.
- Planning and delivering engineering work packages.
- Managing technical delivery (time, cost, quality, risk).
Systems & Product Development Experience
- Understanding full engineering lifecycle (design > development > test > qualification > acceptance).
- Documenting design processes and verifying system requirements.
- Leading engineering design activities, including risk identification and specification compliance.
Specialist Engineering Background
- Background in one or more: Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
Project & Technical Management
- Using project management methodologies.
- Experience with estimation, costing, procurement, pricing, contracts, and bidding processes.
- Technical management delivery as a supplier/integrator., Energetic, proactive, “can-do” attitude.
- Strong decision-maker uses sound judgment.
- Able to contribute technical expertise to bids/projects.
- Innovative, pushing best practice.
- Good at building trust and relationships across teams and suppliers.
