Care Assistant

MPA are currently recruiting for Care Assistants on a permanent basis for our client based in the Garvagh area. This position will be based in a Residential Home Setting. The pay rate is £12.90 – £13.00 per hour depending on qualifications. The role will involve providing care and support to residents within the Christian ethos and aims of the Council for Social Witness.

Role Responsibilities

• Providing a high standard of personal care to residents
• Providing assistant at meal times as well as recording food and fluid intake
• Promoting independence where possible
• Providing support with mobility
• Making beds
• Communicating with residents and making them feel comfortable

Essential Criteria

• Evidence an understanding of and respect for the needs of older people;
• Willing to undertake relevant training e.g. induction training, or NVQ/QCF level 2;
• Proficiency in understanding, communicating and writing in English to level required by the duties of the post;
• Basic numeracy required by the duties of the post (as endorsed by appropriate qualification or use of numeracy skills in a work or home environment).
• Be willing to work additional hours to fulfil the requirements of the Home
• Willing to maintain registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council
• 6 months experience in a similar role
• Willingness to complete Access NI checks

Further Information

• Salary: £12.90 per hour (no NVQ)

£12.96 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care

£13.00 per hour with NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care

• Hours: Part-time 24.66 hours per week

Full-time 37 hours per week

• Both day duty and night duty posts are available. Shift times include 7am-7.20pm, 7am-2pm and 7pm-7.20am
