Job Description:

Inspire Resourcing are currently recruiting a Purchasing Assistant for our well-established engineering client based in Chesterfield.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtaining and reviewing supplier quotes, negotiating pricing where appropriate.
  • Raising, amending and managing purchase orders.
  • Processing orders and ensuring all supplier acknowledgements are received.
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Arranging shipments and coordinating deliveries.
  • Managing freight and shipment arrangements, including liaising with logistics providers and freight forwarders.
  • Managing relevant import and shipment documentation.
  • Tracking orders through to delivery and proactively resolving any delays or issues.
  • Working closely with internal departments, including Sales and Goods In, to ensure purchasing and delivery requirements are communicated effectively.
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with inventory management.
  • Completing weekly PI checks, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing and order records.
  • Dealing with invoice queries, delivery discrepancies and damaged goods.
  • Ensuring materials meet required quality standards and specifications, including obtaining Material Test Certificates (MTCs).
  • Sourcing new suppliers and obtaining competitive quotations.
  • Completing European currency conversions and financial conversions to ensure consistency and continuity when reviewing supplier pricing and order values.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and logistics partners.
  • Providing general purchasing and administrative support to the Procurement Manager.

Requirements

  • Previous experience within a purchasing/procurement environment is essential.
  • Experience of raising and managing purchase orders.
  • Good understanding of purchasing and supply chain processes.
  • Experience with freight, shipments and delivery coordination would be advantageous.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of pricing, costs and financial information.
  • Experience with currency conversions, particularly European currencies, would be beneficial.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems is desirable.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
