Job Description Project Engineer n Packaging Machinery, Hereford, Up to £50,000 pa + Benefits n Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a background in packaging machinery , engineering or automated equipment? n Are you someone who enjoys having ownership of a project from beginning to end, and can manage several projects simultaneously? n This could be an excellent opportunity to join a fast-growing, independent packaging machinery business supplying complete machinery and production-line solutions to customers across the UK and overseas. n The Role: n As Project Engineer , you will take primary responsibility for your own portfolio of new machinery projects, managing each one from initial specification through to installation and completion. n Projects typically run for around three months, although this can vary, and you’ll gradually build a portfolio of around 10 live projects at different stages . Each new project brings a fresh set of requirements, customers, suppliers and challenges, so this is a role where priorities can change quickly and no two days are quite the same. n You’ll be the key link between the customer, suppliers, internal teams and installation personnel, ensuring projects remain technically, commercially and operationally on track. n Your responsibilities will include: n n Taking full cradle-to-grave responsibility for multiple machinery projects. n Reviewing customer requirements and agreeing machine specifications. n Visiting customer sites to measure up, assess requirements and review project progress. n Arranging and attending machine testing, validation and acceptance activities. n Working with CAD and engineering colleagues on equipment and line layouts. n Liaising with machinery manufacturers, suppliers and third parties in the UK and Europe. n Managing delivery, logistics and installation arrangements. n Attending customer sites during installation, commissioning and project completion. n Monitoring project timescales, costs, revenues and profitability. n Managing variations and ensuring these are correctly identified and invoiced. n Maintaining accurate project information through the company’s ERP and project-tracking systems. n Preparing and reviewing tender and project documentation. n Supporting Sales Managers with customer meetings and presentations. n Producing project visit reports and providing clear, regular progress updates to the wider team. n Supporting the company’s quality and Health & Safety requirements. n n There will also be UK and European travel to customer and supplier sites, including supplier visits for machine validation and training. n What We’re Looking For: n The most important thing is proven project management experience within an engineering or machinery environment . n You’ll ideally have: n n At least 3 years’ project management / project engineering experience. n Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish . n A background in, or good working knowledge of, packaging machinery . n Experience with flexible and/or rigid packaging equipment – for example VFFS/HFFS, baggers, pouch machines, wrappers, weighers, fillers, cappers, bottling equipment, labelling or associated production-line machinery. n A basic practical understanding of mechanical engineering and machinery installation/commissioning . n The confidence to visit customer sites, understand what is required and take ownership of the project. n Strong communication and organisational skills , with the ability to build effective relationships with both customers and suppliers. n The ability to work at pace, manage changing priorities and make things happen without requiring constant supervision. n A genuine team-player mentality , with the confidence to provide and receive honest project updates and feedback. n Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and project-management software. n A full UK passport/right to travel for European supplier visits. n n PRINCE2 or an equivalent project-management qualification would be advantageous. n Experience with AutoCAD, Smartsheet, Simpro or another ERP/project-management system, together with logistics/import knowledge, would also be beneficial. n Why This Role? n This is a role for someone who wants to be the person responsible for making things happen. n You’ll join an established but rapidly expanding business where new projects continue to come through, meaning there is plenty to get your teeth into.
