This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting business growth by developing high-quality quotations and cost estimates for both new and existing customers. n You will work closely with engineering, operational, and commercial teams to ensure proposals are technically sound, commercially competitive, and aligned with customer requirements. n The Role n As a Proposals Engineer, you will be responsible for the development, execution, tracking, and communication of quotation and estimating activities across a range of engineering services. n Your key responsibilities will include: n n Producing quotations for the manufacture of a variety of loose gear products. n Preparing quotations for gearbox and pump refurbishment projects. n Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to develop accurate cost estimates. n Preparing detailed cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads where applicable. n Conducting risk and opportunity assessments and making recommendations to senior management. n Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and evaluate proposals. n Collaborating with managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure estimates reflect realistic delivery plans and operational requirements. n Presenting estimates and commercial recommendations to support bid and no-bid decisions. n Supporting value engineering initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality and performance. n Ensuring all proposals comply with company procedures, industry standards, and customer requirements. n n This is a varied and rewarding position with opportunities for career development within a busy and successful engineering business. n About You n We’re looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong commercial awareness and excellent attention to detail. n You will ideally have: n n Experience in estimating within a service-based engineering environment or a related industry. n A strong understanding of engineering processes, materials, and industry pricing structures. n Advanced Excel skills and experience with cost modelling and data analysis. n Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. n Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail. n Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. n The ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines simultaneously. n Relevant engineering qualifications or experience in a related discipline. n Desirable n Previous experience working as a machinist within a mechanical engineering workshop. n Experience within gearbox, pump refurbishment, machining, or general mechanical engineering sectors. n Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience. n n Why Join Us n n Be part of a respected engineering business with a strong reputation for quality and service. n Work on a diverse range of technical and commercial projects. n Opportunities for progression and professional development. n Collaborative and supportive working environment. n A key role contributing directly to business growth and success. n n Apply Now n If you’re a detail-driven engineering professional looking to combine technical knowledge with commercial expertise, we’d love to hear from you. n Apply today and help us deliver innovative engineering solutions for our customers. n n JBRP1_UKTJ
