Overview

Senior Engineer to lead civil engineering design and delivery within Arcadis’ Places Design Practice. You will shape urban development projects by integrating drainage, utilities, earthworks and highways interfaces, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainable, safe designs. You’ll manage design solutions across project stages, oversee BIM and drawings, and mentor junior staff. This role offers impact across global design collaboration and complex buildings projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering activities contributing to sustainable development and apply Arcadis Health and Safety Principles
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure overall design integrity
  • Define project approach for collaboration with global design colleagues
  • Prepare and manage design solutions across project stages, including drawings, BIM models, reports, and specifications
  • Attend project meetings and review team work for accuracy
  • Identify and manage engineering management arrangements to meet IMS requirements
  • Maintain Designer Hazard Logs and communicate residual risks to the Principal Designer
  • Plan and coordinate projects, including tasks, people, and resources
  • Provide technical ownership of Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers
  • Act as technical design lead, resolving project issues and guiding junior staff

Key requirements

  • Degree qualified with Chartered or Incorporated status (candidates close to chartered considered)
  • Experience in design and delivery of civil engineering/urban development in buildings projects
  • Expertise in surface water & foul water drainage, highways and utilities design
  • Proficiency in MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, AutoCAD Civil3D, and BIM integration
  • Knowledge of design standards (e.g., SuDS, SfA, DMRB, Building Regulations)
  • Experience in project management (planning, programming, commercial management, client relationship)
