Engineering Manager – Residential Developer

Overview

In this Engineering Manager role, you lead the Technical team to deliver engineering designs for new build residential schemes in the SW London region and beyond. You’ll ensure technical and development processes align with budgets and schedules, while coordinating planning approvals with authorities and consultants. You shape land suitability and cost appraisals for future developments, driving efficient delivery and robust technical governance. This is a hands-on leadership role at a leading residential developer.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the technical team to deliver engineering designs on time and within budget
• Coordinate planning application processes with local authorities and external consultants
• Provide engineering appraisals and costings for land suitability and buildability
• Ensure full technical and development processes for new build schemes are executed effectively
• Prepare monthly development reports and monitor spend against budget
• Produce technical and logistical drawings for residential sites
• Support the Technical Director in departmental governance and stakeholder communication

Key requirements

• Experience as Engineering Manager in new build residential developments
• Proven track record with a leading house builder
• Strong knowledge of civil highways and footpaths, drainage, sewer systems and utilities
• Experience with environmental and geotechnical reports
• Familiarity with planning application processes and local authorities
• Ability to produce land appraisals and costings and assess land viability
