Overview
In this role you drive RAM activities for complex defense systems, shaping reliability and safety outcomes. You will lead RAM work across hardware, software and electronics, influencing product safety and mission readiness. You’ll collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to meet defence standards and provide actionable findings from data. This role offers impact on system availability and lifecycle design, with on-site work in Ampthill and security vetting as a key compliance element.
Responsibilities
- Conduct reliability predictions, calculations, and analysis across product lifecycles
- Perform FMECA to identify design risks and mitigation actions
- Develop and manage Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) Programme Plans and Safety Cases
- Analyze test results and field failure data to drive design improvements
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams to ensure compliance with defence standards
- Participate in internal and external project reliability reviews and panels
Key requirements
- Strong reliability engineering experience in manufacturing or defense
- Proven track record in reliability studies and actionable recommendations
- Ability to obtain and maintain DV clearance (UK National Security Vetting)
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proven experience in reliability engineering, safety analysis, or systems assurance in aerospace/defense or regulated safety-critical industry
- Strong knowledge of FMECA, reliability prediction standards, and fault tree analysis
- Excellent verbal and written communication for reports and presentations
