Overview

As Software Controls Engineer you will program Schneider Electric PLCs and configure SCADA/HMI systems to deliver full‑lifecycle automation for water, energy and process clients. You will work within a delivery team to implement digital transformation across UK infrastructure, collaborating with clients and engineers. The role combines hands‑on programming, system integration and documentation to ensure safe, efficient operations. You will travel to sites and contribute to projects that shape essential industrial automation across sectors.

Responsibilities

• Program Schneider Electric PLCs (Modicon, EcoStruxure, Unity Pro)
• Configure and commission SCADA and HMI systems (AVEVA/Wonderware)
• Deliver PLC, SCADA and HMI solutions for water and process clients
• Produce technical documentation (FDS, specifications, control philosophies)
• Support full lifecycle delivery: design, FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover
• Conduct site surveys, upgrades and troubleshooting
• Collaborate with clients and internal engineering teams

Key requirements

• Ideally degree/HNC/HND in Electrical, Controls, Automation or Software Engineering (preferred)
• Strong experience programming Schneider Electric PLCs and working with Schneider SCADA/HMI platforms
• Solid automation engineering and troubleshooting skills
• Clear communicator and effective team collaborator
• Full UK driving licence, with flexibility for occasional travel
