Protection and Control Engineer

Overview

In this role you will design protection and control for 11kV–132kV assets, shaping solutions for a future smart grid. You will collaborate with a regional team on landmark projects and engage across sites and client offices to ensure compliant, integrated protection and SCADA systems. You drive engineering calculations, documentation, and equipment specs, with a focus on practical, cost-effective outcomes. Responsibilities

• Produce protection and control design drawings for 11kV–132kV systems
• Develop protection solutions for a future smart grid
• Integrate protection and SCADA systems for cost-effective design
• Create engineering design calculations and documentation
• Support equipment specifications
• Visit sites to assess project requirements
• Attend site meetings and update designs during build
• Review supplier and client designs for compliance with legislation and policies

Key requirements

• HNC Electrical Engineering qualification
• Proven experience in design of protection and control schemes
• Knowledge of Electrical Networks and Engineering standards
• Ability to interpret technical design documentation
• Experience with substation control equipment from ABB/Hitachi/Siemens/GE
• Experience with IEC 61850 and IEC 60870
• Full driving licence
