Overview
In this role you will lead the process design for wastewater projects within a major utilities framework, helping deliver upgrading programs for water and wastewater assets. You will work in the design and build unit of a global engineering consultancy, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliant, value-driven solutions. You will drive process models, mass balances, and control philosophies while identifying opportunities for innovation and net-zero outcomes. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers and providing technical assurance to safeguard design quality and delivery. Responsibilities
- Lead development of process design deliverables (process models, mass balances, control philosophies)
- Provide technical assurance of process designs and ensure compliance with United Utilities standards
- Identify opportunities for innovation to meet whole-life cost and net-zero drivers
- Analyze site performance and identify risks impacting project delivery; develop mitigations
- Challenge process selection to ensure best value solutions for United Utilities
- Coach and mentor junior engineers to develop skills and allocate resources appropriately
- Engage with clients and project teams to defend solutions and ensure fit-for-purpose outcomes
Key requirements
- Chemical Engineering or related process engineering degree
- Experience with water or wastewater unit processes and designing wastewater projects
- HAZOP experience is advantageous
- Chartered status is preferred
